Faded Away Actresses of 80s and 90s from the Bollywood Industry

Bollywood : When we talk about Bollywood Industry, many new faces are seen every day as regards to DEBUTANTS. In this showbiz industry, thousands of films are being released every year. Many DEBUT ACTRESSES enter the Bollywood Industry and try their luck, but very few are able to reach a level of success and fame. Many of the actresses from the past faded away from the Bollywood Industry because of some reasons. Some of them became homemakers after getting married or turned socialites or just disappeared from the industry after doing their first debut entry. The entertainment industry includes money, fame, power and glamour. However, not everyone knows how to retain the fame and continue to live their dreams.

Some of the actresses are of 80’s and 90’s can be listed as below:

  1. Meenakshi Seshadri: One of the popular actresses in 90’s, Meenakshi made her film debut in “Painter Babu” (1983) and received huge response with the film “Hero” (1983) and became an overnight star. She married investment banker Harish Mysore in 1995. The couple has two children, a daughter, and a son. Meenakshi lives in Plano, Texas. After the release of her film “Ghatak”, Meenakshi left the film industry to raise her children in the United States with her husband.
  2. Kimi Katkar: Kimi Katkar debuted in film “Patthar Dil” as a supporting actress in 1985. In the same year her film “Tarzan” was released. She did some hot scenes in “Tarzan”. She came into limelight when she acted in the movie “Hum” with Amitabhji. “Jumma Chumma De De” song became the biggest hit of the year. Surprisingly, she was not very much interested in signing new movies. She married advertising photographer Shantanu Sheorey and thus left the Bollywood industry.
  3. Farah Naaz: Farah Naaz , elder sister of Tabu, made her debut entry in the year 1985 with the movie “Faasle” opposite Rohan Kapoor. She was seen in many films like “Naseeb Apna Apna”, “Love 86”, “Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani”, “Yateem”, “Naqaab”, “Imandaar”, “Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri” and many more. Then, she got married to Vindu Dara Singh and got retired from the showbiz. The couple got divorced and after sometime she got married to television actor Sumeet Saigal.
  4. Mandakini: Mandakini became famous from her very first movie “Ram Teri Ganga Maili” opposite Rajiv Kapoor. She also acted in films opposite Govinda and Mithun Chakraborty. However, none of the her movies could recreate the success she attained through her debut movie. Mandakini later married Dr. Kagyur and have two children. She was last seen in 1996 release “Zordaar” and after that she left the Bollywood Industry.
  5. Bhagyashree: In the year 1989, an innocent and cute looking Bhagyashree was launched in a debut role opposite Salman Khan in the movie “Maine Pyaar Kiya”. She became famous and received a Filmfare Award for Finest Feminine Debut for her debut movie. But unfortunately Bhagyashree’s Bollywood career could not be a hit. She appeared in a few films but soon she vanished from the industry. Her son will be soon seen making a debut entry in Bollywood.
  6. Farheen Khan: Actress Farheen Khan made her debut entry in the musical superhit movie “Jaan Tere Naam”. After that she appeared in few movies like “Sainik”, “Dil Ki Baazi” and “Amaanat”. After her debut movie she was known as the second Madhuri Dixit of Bollywood. However, she totally disappeared from Bollywood Industry and later on got secretly married to cricketer Manoj Prabhakar.
  7. Sonam: Actress Sonam first appeared in the movie “Mitti and Sona” and has also worked in the movies like “Tridev” and “Vishwatma”. Later on, she got married to director and Producer Rajiv Rai and thereafter vanished from B-Town.
  8. Sonu Walia: Sonu Walia became famous after she gave bold scenes wearing a swimsuit opposite Kabir Bedi in the movie “Khoon Bhari Maang”. She acted in many films after that  left from Bollywood because of her height as she thought that not even a single producer and director was approaching for signing any of the movies.
  9. Sheeba: Sheeba made her Bollywood debut in 1991 with the movie “Yeh Aag Kab Bhujegi”. She acted in film “Suryavanshi” opposite Salman Khan. She was also seen in many films till the year 2015. Even after working with many superstars, she could not make a successful career in the industry. Sheeba may be away from Bollywood, but remains very active on social media. She looks beautiful and stunning even today as she is seen on social media, as a fitness diva.
  10. Ayesha Jhulka: Ayesha Jhulka appeared in many films like “Kurbaan”, “Jo Jeeta Wahi Sikandar”, “Khiladi”, “Meherbaan”, “Dalaal”, “Balmaa”, “Waqt Hamara Hai” and many more. Though, she attained name and fame from these movies, but she could not retain it. She disappeared from the Big Screen quite early. Now she is a Business Entrepreneur of Spa and Clothing.
  11. Namrata Shirodkar: Namrata made her debut entry with Salman Khan’s movie “Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai”. Thereafter, she was seen in the movie “Vaastav” opposite Sanjay Dutt. She was also seen in a few films of Bollywood. Later she got married to the love of her life Superstar Mahesh Babu and decided to be a homemaker rather than an actress. 
  12. Madhoo: Madhoo became very popular after her debut movie “Phool Aur Kaante”, which was a blockbuster movie. After that she was seen in the movie “Roja” and “Kabhi Socha Bhi Na Tha”. She decided to quit the silver screen, as she did not get the respect she desired in terms of her roles.
  13. Somy Ali: Somy Ali begin with her first film “Anth: A Dream for a Better Tomorrow” opposite Sunil Shetty and the film did well at the box office. But the actress went unnoticed in the movie. Somy worked in about 10 movies including “Teesra Kaun?”, “Yaar Gaddar”, “Andolan”, “Mafia” and “Aao Pyaar Karein”. Her acting career was weak. Heartbroken Somy Ali resigned from the Bollywood commitments as she broke up with a long time relationship with actor Salman Khan.
  14. Anu Aggarwal: Anu Aggarwal debuted with the Blockbuster movie “Aashiqui” which made her an overnight star. She was also seen in the movie “King Uncle” and then in a negative role in the movie “Khal Naaikaa”. Thereafter, she disappeared from the Bollywood as she met with a horrific accident which left her struggling with her memory. Doctors had given up on her life, but she healed herself with yoga and is now working as a yoga teacher.
  15. Mamta Kulkarni: Mamta Kulkarni made her debut entry in Bollywood with the movie “Tiranga” in the year 1992. She became popular with the movie “Aashiq Awara” in the year 1993. After this she appeared in the movies like “Waqt Hamara Hai”, “Krantiveer”, “Karan Arjun”,” Baazi”. Her last movie was “Kabhi Tum Kabhi Hum”, after which she disappeared from Bollywood Industry. Due to her association with the International drugs lord Vicky Goswami, she was involved in many controversies and was not seen after that.
  16. Nagma: Nagma made a cinematic debut entry in the movie “Baaghi: A Rebel for Love” opposite Salman Khan. Thereafter she was seen in many movies like “Bewafa Se Waffa”, “Yalgaar”, “Suhaag”, “Lal Badshah”, “Chal Mere Bhai” and a few more. Her last movie in a supporting role was “Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo”. Due to Nagma’s controversial love life, she disappeared from the industry and joined politics.
  17. Neha: Neha started her Bollywood career with the movie “Kareeb” (1998) opposite Bobby Deol. She was also seen in short roles in the movies “Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet” and “Fiza”. Thereafter, she got married to actor Manoj Bajpai in the year 2006 and just disappeared from silver screen.
  18. Mayuri Kongo: Mayuri Kongo started her career with the movie “Papa Kehte Hain”. Her career was short-lived. She was also seen in the movies “Betaabi” and “Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet”. She got married and moved to New York with her husband and thus left the industry.
  19. Mahima Chaudhary: Actress Mahima Chaudhary made her debut bollywood entry opposite Sharukh Khan in the movie “Pardes”, which was a blockbuster movie. Mahima starred in other films like “Daag: The Fire”, “Pyaar Koi Khel Nahi”, “Dhadkan”, “Dewana”, “Kurukshetra”, “Om Jai Jagdish” and “Dil Hai Tumhara”. She decided to stay away from Bollywood as she feels that there are limited roles for senior female actresses.
  20. Pooja Batra: Actress Pooja Batra made her debut entry with the movie “Virasat” followed by another hit movie “Bhai”. She has done almost 20 films in hindi. Pooja got married to orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Sonu S. Ahluwalia. She left the Bollywood Industry and moved to America. Now, she is all set to make a come back after so many years with the OTT release.Although, these beauties have disappeared from the silver screen, they will remain in our hearts forever.
