Prepare for an exhilarating journey as Sunny Deol, in a heartwarming tribute to his fans, is set to reprise his unforgettable role from JP Dutta’s blockbuster war film Border, which first enthralled us in 1997. In a gesture of love for his fans, the actor shared the announcement video on his Instagram account on Thursday. Anurag Singh will direct Border 2, marking a new chapter in the saga of this iconic character.
Sunny provided the voiceover for the new video, saying, “27 saal pehle ek fauji ne vada kiya tha ki vo vapas aayega. Ussi vaade ko poora karne, Hindustan ki mitti ko apna salaam kehne, aa raha hai.”
The announcement trailer, which promises to be India’s largest war film, concluded with the soul-stirring song Sandese Aaate Hain by Sonu Nigam and Roopkumar Rathod from the first movie. In the caption, Sunny shared more about the movie, assuring us that Anurag Singh would be at the helm and that the original team of Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta will be producing it.
Sunny’s recent work in Gadar 2, directed by Anil Sharma, was a testament to his enduring popularity. It was the sequel to the 2001 hit film, in which Sunny played truck driver Tara Singh and Ameesha Patel portrayed Sakina. At the Indian box office, the film took in around ₹450 crore, making it a resounding success and setting high expectations for his future projects, including Border 2.
